Improving your Squarespace Blogging Techniques

Blogging on Squarespace is easy and with simple organisation techniques, the platform can rival any CMS.

Creating a blog is a great thing if done correctly. And by correctly, I mean in a realistic, achievable way. The first thing I ask anyone when the idea of publishing a blog comes up is what content they plan on writing and how frequently. Why? Because there’s not a lot to be gained in publishing content without a clear plan that has been created in a way that writers know what they’ll be writing when they’ll have it done and when it’ll go live.

Of course, there’s flexibility within this kind of structure, but the underlying intention remains the same.

Add 'related posts' to the bottom of your posts
Related posts allow readers to find additional, helpful posts that are relevant to the post that initially drew them to your blog. It ensures the read continues clicking through your site. Increase views on other content you've created, remind current (and new) audiences of launches and provide another chance for any missed, previous posts to have a second wind.

The process of building a 'related posts' sections is simple. Access a blog post and through the insert line, select SUMMARY > GRID

If you don't want the date or category of the posts shown, simply choose 'none' under the metadata options.

To keep things fresh, you can even select featured posts to control what comes up.

If you have strong categories, filter the relevancy here, too.

Again, play around with these settings until you find the style you like.
